Just What Are They Afraid Of?

A lot of people in Washington are yelling and hollering about the current move by the administration to find the waste, fraud and abuse in our federal spending.

Let’s face it, Washington – people in both parties, have not been good stewards of the tax money being sent to Washington over the years – and I must agree.

What is stewardship? It’s the process of being responsible with someone else’s property while it is entrusted.

In Christian traditions, stewardship is the recognition and faithful management of God’s gifts, including time, talents, possessions, and resources, for the purpose of advancing God’s kingdom and serving others.

For the purposes of our discussion today, let’s say that stewardship of our tax dollars means that they are used to further what’s best for the American people.

Sending millions of dollars of condoms to some Arab country, or billions to some country that many people can’t find on a map – to further their war with yet another country, or sending money to further the cause of transgenderism in any country – including ours – is not good stewardship of our tax dollars.

And when we start looking under the covers of the spending – and when politicians start yelling and complaining – something’s not right.

It’s like the kid who eats candy before dinner – has chocolate all over his face, and when her mother inquires if they ate candy, they say, “No Mom! Not me!” – something’s wrong.

That’s exactly what these politicians are doing. Methinks they protest too much!

Let’s look at Numbers 32. The chapter deals with the sin of the Israelites – some of the tribes settled on the east side of the Jordan River and weren’t interested in helping their brothers take the land on the west side, as God was providing. Moses told them bluntly that they were to do so, and that if they did, they could come back and be blameless, but if they didn’t they were sinning.

The upshot was verse 23: Be Sure Your Sin Will Find You Out.

Just like the chocolate on the little kid’s face, mom knew – the sin showed.

Likewise, these governmental elected officials squealing like stuffed pigs, their sin is showing. Something is amiss.

Just what are they afraid of?

If they were on the up-and-up, and good stewards with the tax money entrusted to them, and honest with the American people, then they shouldn’t be afraid of anything – and should be more than willing to allow an outside audit, right?

Let’s take a peek at Psalm 34, starting in verse 11, through 18:

Come, you children, listen to me;

I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Who is the man who desires life,

And loves many days, that he may see good?

Keep your tongue from evil,

Depart from evil and do good;

Seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

And His ears are open to their cry.

The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,

To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,

And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

David writes in verse 13, to keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. There’s probably a lot of deceit coming fro these screamers.

He also writes that we’re to depart from evil and do good – that’s pretty plain.

However, there’s a lot of evil in the bowels of our government – promoting transgenderism and homosexuality, and the killing of the unborn – all of which God calls evil.  How much of this waste and abuse of our taxpayer dollars have gone for this sin?

This is why I’ve said for years now, that you cannot call yourself a true, born-again Christian and vote for leftist, liberal or progressive candidates – because you’re voting for evil – you’re voting for sin, and therefore since you know this is sin – you’re sinning – and God’s not having any of it.

Also in verse 14, David writes that we should seek peace and pursue it. What is our president doing? He’s seeking peace and pursuing it. Why are there so many trying to stop this and standing in his way?

It’s simple, the Military Industrial Complex! How much of that “missing money” for Ukraine went to military contractor executives, or governmental officials in the form of kickbacks? I’d lay odds that a good portion of it – and they don’t want it exposed.

And that’s the rub – getting exposed.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “sunlight is the best disinfectant?”

In the Bible, light is always portrayed as good, and darkness as evil. When you shine a light in a dark room, you can see what’s in the room.

Likewise, when truth (light) is put to lies and deceit (darkness) – the deceit and lies are exposed.

I won’t go into whether our president is a born-again Christian or not – I sincerely pray that he is – but verse 17 says  that the righteous cry out and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of their troubles. Many a Christian prayed fervently that Kamala Harris not win this election, and that this country be delivered from the insanity of the last four years.

We prayed – and we believe that God delivered.

Many equate Donald Trump to King Cyrus of Babylon, who ruled from 550 BC until he died in 530 BC, during which, he freed the Jews from their captivity and exile – and even paid to help rebuild Jerusalem. Cyrus was no Christian (there were no “Christians” then) but he was a benevolent king who saw a problem, and facilitated its correction.

The same with Donald Trump, he sees some big problems in terms of our sinful culture as well as our perilous financial situation – and he’s taking some steps – some painful – to correct them.
