Let us pray…
Dear Most Gracious Heavenly Father,
As we approach the day where we, as a nation, peacefully transfer power from one government to another, we know that there are disagreements over policy and direction.
But Father, there Is only one direction, the one You chart out.
It says in Your Word:
“For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1b)
All through Your Word, You have exercised Your authority, to place persons in authority over us – from Abraham and Moses, and Eleazar the Priest (Numbers 27:19-21 – “You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey.”).
The one I think of now is King Solomon, the wisest King that You brought to power. He was not next in line for the throne, and not entitled, yet You brought him to power.
You have Your way Father, always – as it should be.
And You are now. As with King Solomon, You are bringing to power, someone – like Amnon, David’s firstborn who thought he was the rightful heir to the throne – and would kill to be there – there are people today, planning evil and hateful things to keep Your Anointed from taking the reins of this nation. This, of course has failed before, and will again, as You will have Your way.
Father, you allowed this nation many years of evil, and this nation – and the world – is ripe for judgement. From the legal slaughter of almost 60 million innocent children, to the unnatural relations between the sexes – things You state over and over, are abominations in Your sight.
But your people prayed, as it says in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“… if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
We prayed, and humbled ourselves, repented for this nation – and we see that God spared this nation, as He did Nineveh when Jonah preached to them – God withheld judgement for 150 years.
Lord God, thank you for sending our new president and vice president. We pray now for the peaceful, and uneventful transfer of power – that no harm come come to either of them, their families or those of the people serving in their administration.
We also continue to pray for this nation, that people repent for, and turn from, their wicked ways, and You bless this nation.
In the matchless name of Yeshua, ha’Machiach – our Messiah, Jesus,
Amen
