More “Politically Incorrect” Fire and Brimstone

I’ve had it with the political correct craziness that’s infected this nation.

We’ve started studying the Book of Nahum here at our Bible Study on Shabbat – the Sabbath. It’s held at our home on Friday evenings. This book is about the impending doom of Nineveh – and of the nation of Assyria.

It’s always compared to the Book of Jonah – where the prophet goes to Nineveh, declares its doom – and the people repent. God spares the people.

Fast-forward 150 years, and now we’re in the time of Nahum. The people of Nineveh have returned to their evil ways – much like in the world today:

• Idol worship
• Homosexuality
• Adultery – and Fornication
• Sacrifice (Murder) of children
• General lawlessness

Wait a minute, you say – how are we worshiping idols? And – how are we sacrificing children?

Let’s hit idol worship first…

An idol – is anything that you give more importance than God. How important is money to you? Your position? Your status in the community or employing organization?

What would you be willing to lose – for God?

And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:1-3)

This is the first of the ten commandments – which we are to follow today. Yes, there are pastors out there that will tell you that the Old Testament is obsolete and that the New supersedes the Old – that’s hogwash!

A pastor once asked me, as I was reading The Tanakh – the Hebrew Bible, “Would Jesus read a Bible like that?” What an idiotic question! It’s the only Bible He had! There was no New Testament when Jesus walked this earth!

Jesus was a Jew in every respect – and He respected the Law as His Father, laid it out. It does contain laws regarding sacrifices, which have been superseded by the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus, called the “sacrificial law” – these, were superseded.

The remainder is called the “moral law” – of which the Ten Commandments are a part – which is still in effect – and make the basis for our laws in the United States, and many other countries, today.

So I ask again, what are you willing to give up for God?

• If circumstances were such that you were faced with making a choice of serving God and making a lot less money, or keeping the job that paid a lot of money, perks and benefits, what choice would you make?
• If faced with losing a tax-exempt status with the government by preaching to the people what they needed to hear – that their sin is sending them to Hell – and electing leaders who endorse, would permit – or even practice – this sin, is leading the nation to ruin … or keeping neutral, keeping your message lukewarm, not “naming names” and keeping it general – you keep your coveted status, what choice would you make Pastor?

The Apostle Paul did both – he didn’t do it “for the money”… and his choice to “name names” got him in some serious hot water at times – imprisoned, and ultimately killed.

• Would you go to prison for standing up for God?
• Would you give your life for God?

Choices – which to worship, idols? God? It should be an easy choice – but for most, including pastors, it’s not.

And as for the sacrificing of children – I consider the child in the womb – a child – a life to be cherished and to be brought into the world.

Most abortions today are performed to accommodate the mother – it was unplanned. They sacrifice the child for their convenience.

For when they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. (Ezekiel 23:39)

Adultery and Fornication are the root of this – their idol worship is having sexual relations outside of marriage – and the result is an unplanned pregnancy. To worship their idol, they sacrifice the child.

It gets right back to the worship of idols!

Most Democrats – and some Republicans – believe that it’s the woman’s right to choose what happens to their bodies. Yes they do, but it’s not what you think … they have a right to say “NO,” when in that situation.

It’s called abstinence – and it must be taught in every school to every boy and girl. Unfortunately, schools today are teaching the opposite, and even more sin!

Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. (1 Corinthians 10:7-11)

They’re teaching about the use of condoms and birth control – bringing Planned Parenthood in to the schools – the curriculum, if not the people themselves.

They’re also teaching abnormal things when it comes to “gender”

So, you ask, how does this relate to Jonah and Nahum? Well, people, it’s easy, I’m being prophetic now – even though I’m not claiming prophet status – I can see the signs.

When this nation, the United States of America was born, the Constitution was constructed with biblical principles in mind. These men were wise beyond their years. But most importantly, they repented before God. The British rulers were brutal – and a sinful lot – and God delivered this nation – and prospered it over the years.

This would be the “Jonah” moment – God could have taken the nation down and destroyed it, but He didn’t.

Today, we’ve been given another “Jonah moment” if you will. We’ve endured at least 28 years of increasing sinfulness under various leaders from George Bush 41, Bill Clinton, George Bush 43 and Barack Obama – where we had leaders who did evil in the sight of the Lord.

All claimed to be Christian, but all have either advocated – or actually signed – laws which were in direct violation to God’s Word. You can sit in a church pew all you want – that’s just playing church. You have to show the fruit of your faith – make those hard choices to do the right thing, or not.

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:33-37 ESV)

Recently in the news, there was an article that Hillary Clinton was considering the pastorate under the United Methodist Church. Read about it here if you desire a good laugh, as I did.

To even consider Hillary Clinton a preacher is laughable.

First, is she even saved? To be saved, one has to repent of their sin – and she hasn’t repented of anything. She follows the Saul Alinsky playbook of deflect onto others. She never takes responsibility for her own sins – so I question her salvation.

Second, and there I’ll show my misogyny here – she’s female, and the Bible is clear, in Paul’s letters to both Titus and Timothy:

This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife… (Titus 1:5-6a ESV)

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. (1 Timothy 3:2-3 ESV)

She’s not the “husband of one wife” – she’s the WIFE of a husband! Pastors are to be men, not women.

Can women teach? Yes, but they cannot lead a church.

She’s also certainly not above reproach – given her current – and unrepentant – legal challenges. Given her reported tirades, she’s not self-controlled and she is quarrelsome. She’s also definitely a lover of money.

The United Methodist Church is considered to be a liberal denomination. in that they allow homosexuals to participate in church life. Attendance is one thing – everyone is welcome to attend, but to become a member, or to receive baptism, or communion? Not until there is sincere repentance and turning away from sinful behavior – including homosexuality – and any sexual behavior outside of marriage.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV)

Of course, there’s repentance – verse 11:

As such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11 ESV)

Now, getting back to Nahum – I believe we’re at a “Nahum moment.” In Nahum, Nineveh is utterly destroyed. No trace of it was ever found until archaeologists found ruins in 1820.

Is our nation about to be judged? God is a longsuffering God, but He puts up with only so much – as any good parent would, and then He punishes.

I believe we’re in a Jonah moment now with Donald Trump – but if we don’t change our ways, and get back to how our Founding Fathers wanted this nation to exist – as God wanted it – we could well find ourselves in a Nahum moment.

Choices – what’s yours?

Repent, and be saved is one very good choice.

Pastors – stop checking your tongue – and your sermon – at the door of the Internal Revenue Service code – and preach! Preach God’s Word, Preach Sin, Hell, Heaven and Repentance! And when a leader is being sinful against God’s Word – call them out publicly! Will people get angry? Sure they will – and it will show their heart – and their fruit!
