There Are No Surprises With God

Several weeks ago, I wrote on the election, and I was criticized that God was not surprised at the election outcome.

True enough – except that this isn’t what I wrote – it’s what was “read into” the message.

God knows what’s going to happen on January 20, 2021 – we don’t, as of this writing anyway. If God sees fit to give us another four years of Donald Trump as president, then a miracle of epic proportions will come out.  If God sees fit to bring Joe Biden into the White House – that’s His choice, and who are we to question it?

I have been saying for months – that if Joe Biden is inaugurated on January 20th, this nation is being set up for major judgment – in fact, it could be the “mother of all judgments” – the tribulation itself.

What I’m trying to say is that there are no surprises to God – He’s sovereign. Nothing happens without Him allowing it. If we look at the Book of Job, we see this exact thing:

Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. (Job 1:9-12)

In other words – whatever happens, God has to allow it to happen – just as God allowed Job to be severely tested in the remainder of Chapter 1. and the first 9 verses of Chapter 2.

This is hitting rather close to home with me lately. 

Last Friday, while taking the trash out, I fell twice – once in the snow, the other was a headfirst dive into the driveway.  I wear a Medical Alert pendant and it went off because it detected a fall. Needless to say, EMS was summoned and they helped me back into the house.

This past Wednesday, I had an appointment in New York with my neurologist and movement disorder specialist for Parkinson’s Disease. We discussed my slowness, the freezing and locking up, and how it’s getting worse, and how it’s also affecting my mental speed. Her answer to me was not what I wanted to hear: “You’re 21 years into this disease, most people don’t make it past 10-15 years, consider yourself lucky.”

This statement is Satan trying to tell me that I cannot be healed, and that my usefulness to the Lord is limited at best.  It had me – and still has me – somewhat depressed. 

My point here is that God’s testing me – like he tested Job – as to my faithfulness to Him.  Yeah, I could just “curse God and die” – but why? I have been so blessed with a wonderful wife, great family, a roof over my head, food in the fridge – all by putting my complete faith in Him, by surrendering everything to God.

God’s not surprised by us getting Covid-19 a couple of months ago – but again, He allowed it, we trusted Him to get us through it – and He did.

God’s not surprised by my Parkinson’s – He allowed it, and if He chooses to heal me of a disease for which there is no earthly cure, then I will praise the Lord and sing His praises. Actually, I will praise God whether He heals me or not. I’m on this earth to serve Him, not the other way around.

Which gets me back to the election – I don’t know what will happen on January 20th, but God does. He’s in total control. Whoever is inaugurated on noon of that day – God has a reason for it.

I’m not saying that we don’t push back on an election that was clearly stolen from the American people – what I am saying is that whatever happens, it was God’s sovereign plan for this nation.

I’ve said that we were given eight years of Barack Obama to show this nation how depraved we’ve become. Well, seventy-two million of us noticed and voted for an outsider to come in and clean house. The rest, it seems, didn’t get God’s message and did everything possible to deny the American people a president who can finish what he started.

The swamp is still alive and well, and it’s going to take a miracle to get rid of it. That miracle could be judgment.

People look at me cross-eyed when I say this, but the signs are all there. 

One only has to read the Books of 1 and 2 Kings as well as 1 and 2 Chronicles to see the pattern. The people fall into sin, the prophets tell them to get right with God, the people ignore the prophets, God brings judgment. The cycle repeats itself.

Every time you see the words, “and he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD” in a verse about a king if Judah or Israel, God either ratchets up hardships or throws down judgment.

God’s not playing people.

You think Covid-19 is a fluke from China? Really? Maybe it’s God, just ratcheting up the hardship. Hardships like unemployment, sickness and death – God’s trying to get our attention!

You think that this election garbage was a fluke? Maybe it’s God, just ratcheting up the hardship on this nation – to get its attention! It was no fluke – and we as a nation better get it right, and right soon!

I’ve said it before, we as believers can pray 2 Chronicles 7:14 until we’re blue in the face – until this nation, this government, humbles itself, gets back to its roots and seek God again (like our founders did) and changes its wicked ways – God’s not going to show favor on this nation.

The United States of America has been blessed like no other nation on earth – but it’s gotten cocky. It thinks that its invincible – and the “little people” no longer matter. Remember what it says in Proverbs about pride and cockiness?

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)

Well, the United States of America is being set up for a fall like its never seen. In fact, the United States can’t even be found by reference in Revelation – is it still around? Has it been taken over by another nation? I don’t know – but I do know this – this nation, this government, must repent of its sins, the murder of the unborn, the allowance for sex-change, homosexuality, allowance for same-sex marriage, the cheating of the people – especially the elderly — all of this, is an abomination to a HOLY GOD!

And that’s the key – God is Holy. He cannot reside where there is unholiness. This nation, although having people living here who are holy – the nation itself is unholy and has strayed from its godly roots.

We must pray fervently – that the nation, that this government, repents in a serious way. 

If there is no change – judgment will come. There will be no revival. This nation will be taken down just as Israel and Judah were by the Assyrians and Babylonians.

Make no mistake – God WILL have His way – one way or the other.
