We Have Only Ourselves To Blame!

If you’re a parent, you tell your kids to be in at a certain time – when I was little, it was “when the street light came on”. If I wasn’t in by that time, I suffered the consequences, and I learned that my misbehavior was not the fault of others, but mine alone.

If I knew of a plot to do wrong, and did nothing to prevent it – then who’s to blame? Certainly the perpetrators – but also me, because I knew it would happen, and did nothing to prevent it.

So it goes with what’s going on today.

“But Pastor, I fought against the stealing of the election! I fought against Biden and Harris! I fought for Trump! I fought my heart out! How can you say that it’s my fault? No one is saying that it’s your fault, personally. Let me explain where we are today.

Back in 1973, when Roe v. Wade was decided – abortion was to be “legal, but rare” – and Christians, in general, tolerated that. Today, 66,000,000 murdered babies later (that’s 1,375,000 babies murdered per year since that decision), it’s not “rare”. That’s 3,767 lives taken for the sake of convenience per day.

Let that sink in a minute. 3,800 lives snuffed out each day since 1973, because their mothers didn’t want them – for whatever reason. That’s more than sad, that’s criminal. Little bodies literally sucked out limb from limb, and we Christians, in general, have tolerated that. We should be ashamed.

Note that I said, “in general” – not every Christian falls into this category. There have been many Christians who have stood up and said “No!” or “No More!” Unfortunately, it may have been a little too late.

But way too many others didn’t want to get involved, or just looked the other way, and excuse me for putting it this way, didn’t give a damn.

I’m not a fan of the Catholic church in America, but I will say that they’ve tried to organize against this barbarism.

I didn’t see a faith march on Washington until the last few years. I didn’t see a groundswell of support by political leaders en masse – a few here and there, yeah – but en masse? No!

Premarital sex was considered something that wasn’t discussed openly, but in the late 1960’s and mainly 1970’s it wasn’t a secret anymore. “Free Love” and “Make Love, Not War” was the slogan of the day.

Some so-called Christians, mainly the pacifists, embraced this.

The disco era of the late seventies opened the valve for premarital sex – and living together without the benefits of marriage. The thought was, “why tie myself down – if it doesn’t work, there’s no messy divorce to contend with.”

I didn’t see a groundswell opposition from the church on this! Again, some condemnation of the practice here and there, but no real Christian opposition to it either.

Of course, this led to open homosexuality and lesbianism,

Homosexuality was considered an alternative lifestyle for the longest time. It’s been around in some form or another since the time of Abraham and Lot. In the 1980’s however, “civil unions” and “partner’s rights” came to the surface, Christians didn’t like it, but we turned our heads for the most part, and stuck them in the sand.

Next came same-sex marriage – legal union – and all of the benefits – including inheritance, child adoption and other rights and benefits that came with it. We yelled a bit more, but again, our political leaders did nothing – and some so-called Christian leaders started solemnizing these unions! Heresy!

This has now led to other perversions that have been recognized as “normal” …

• Transgenderism
• Abhorrent definition of “gender”
• The teaching of this in public schools as part of a mandated curriculum
• The decriminalization of Pedophilia (see organizations such as NAMBLA)

They say it’s not DNA – that our sexual identity is determined by how we feel. It’s OK to buck against God, if we feel He made a mistake.

Folks – are you beginning to see a pattern here?

When we tolerate and give Satan an inch, he takes a foot. When we turn a blind eye on the foot, he takes a yard, then a mile, and so forth.

We’ve taken God out of everything in this nation. We’re perverting prayer in the halls of Congress. We’re perverting every perfect thing that God has given us, and we’ve abandoned Him for our convenience – I mean, who are we to mess with culture?

That’s what’s going on today – Satan’s taken so much of society today, that we’re a mere shell of where we were just thirty years ago.

Do you really think that God’s going to put up with His name being trod underfoot much longer?

Under Barry Obama, we had eight years of racism and division by the races, we had normalization of abhorrent sexual practices and deviant behavior – God was showing us where we were headed. Many of us prayed that we would head in a different direction, but I didn’t hear many fire and brimstone sermons denouncing what was being considered as normal in this nation.

Then, the good Lord gave us an outsider and four years, to get it right – to right the ship and get our act together. Was Donald Trump the Messiah? Far from it! He was a sinner just like the rest of us – except he saw what some of us Christians saw, the unjust treatment of the American people – and peoples around the world – and the unjust murder of the unborn.

Those first two years were under total control of supposedly pro-life, law and order politicians. Those politicians could have codified life in the womb – they did nothing to change things. In fact, they did everything to go against the president of their own party, including obstruct investigations into illegal spying on campaigns and the presidency.

So the Lord ratcheted up the pressure and took control of the House and gave it to the Democrats…

You see, the first chapter of Romans, tells how God will turn His back on a nation – or even a person – when they don’t get things right with Him. It starts with verse 18, and goes on through the end of the chapter.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. (Romans 1:18-23)

Here, we see the sinful status we find ourselves – God’s ticked off, and rightfully so. That God exists is as plain as the nose on their faces – they’ve been shown, and they refuse to believe.

The people in power, and those of us who look the other way and “not make waves” – are without excuse. You aren’t wise, you’re fools.

The people in power in this nation worship idols of money, power, status – and lord it over all of us. Why are we not rising up? Why isn’t the church not rising up – the Johnson Amendment be damned!

Why? Because people don’t want to make waves. People are afraid of offending someone. They’re afraid of speaking boldly, like Peter did, like John did, like Paul did, like Jesus did – they didn’t pull any punches – they put it out there, regardless of the personal cost.

So, now Biden has reversed virtually everything good that was put into place by the previous administration, including protecting the unborn – opening the floodgates to taxpayer funded abortion, reversing the ban on “transexual men” competing in women’s sports and access to their locker rooms.

We murder our babies, we lie and cheat to get whatever we want, we deceive our fellow man to gain power – for what?

God will always have His way.

Step 1 – verses 24-25: “Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”

You want to worship your idols? You want to destroy and mutilate your bodies? You want to disregard the only God of the universe? Go ahead – do so at your peril.

Step 2 – verses 26-27: “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”

Homosexuality? Transgenderism? Sexual Perversion – go ahead. Ever heard if HIV/AIDS? Do you really think that this virus, all of a sudden, came up for no reason? It’s not from primates – primates have been around for thousands of years – HIV/AIDS came to the fore in the 1980s, when sex between men was considered acceptable.

Paul is reiterating here – that homosexuality – regardless of whether men or women – is wrong and shameful!

Step 3 – verses 28-32: “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”

This is where we are today – look at verse 32, that last sentence – Though they knew God’s righteous decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them, but give approval to those who practice them.

And it’s not just the homosexuality either – its the evil, covetousness, malice, envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness, gossip, slander, the hating of the Almighty, being insolent, prideful, being a braggart, laying out evil plans, heartless and ruthless.

How much of this do we have in our nation today?

And we expect God to bless us?

Phfft! As we say in Philly – and as is said in New York, “forgettaboutit! It ain’t happenin'”

I’ve said it for some time now – and I’ll say it again, we can pray 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 until we’re blue in the face, it’s not going to make much a difference until this nation makes fundamental changes in its laws, judicial rulings and customs.

And for Christians to rise up, en masse – including pastors – and support these changes.

It’s not a “woman’s right to choose” what happens to her body – that baby is not her body, it’s a separate human being. Her right to choose ended when she agreed to have sex with another man.

“But it’s women’s healthcare!” – What about that baby’s healthcare? The Hippocratic Oath taken by doctors says “Do No Harm”. Abortion is the antithesis of this oath.

Homosexuality is not natural – God never intended sex to occur between two men or two women, but between one man and one woman, in a marriage covenant – for the enjoyment of husband and wife, and for the purpose of having children.

Transexualism, gender dysphoria, and other sexual perversions are just that, perversions. There are only two genders – Male and Female.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28)

God doesn’t make mistakes – if you were born a male, you have male DNA – if you were born a female, you have female DNA — and there’s no surgery, nothing, that can change that. God meant you to be how He made you.

Note also that God told the man and the woman to be “fruitful and multiply” – not two men, not two women, but man and woman. This blows the entire homosexual argument out of the water.

So, how did we get where we are, and where are we going?

As I said, we’re all complicit in some way or another with where we are now, because we’ve tolerated this sin for so long, that it’s become commonplace. We all need to repent of this, and now!

Are we at a point of no return? I don’t know – can Biden, Harris and the politicians in congress have a change in heart on the issues of sin? As of now, I don’t see that happening.

Hey, God can work a miracle, but heart changes usually happen only when one hits rock bottom, and we’re not there yet. Most people get saved as a result of some crisis in their life – that hasn’t hit the United States yet.

Nope, not even COVID-19 has gotten their attention.

God’s ratcheting up the pressure – now, a new strain of COVID-19 has been unleashed.

What’s it going to take for wholesale, nationwide and national repentance?

I truly believe the rapture is right around the corner. A billion people out of seven billion people suddenly disappearing from the face of the earth, might wake a few people up.

You see, if God’s people aren’t going to do something about it, then God will.

He’s been patient and held His hand back long enough. We’ve had more than enough time to stand up for what’s righteous. Now the parent, our Heavenly Father, needs to step in with some divine discipline.

The tribulation is going to be a shaking for Israel like never before. Ezekiel 38-39 is coming to fruition before our very eyes. Biden has approached Israel for talks about Iran – Israel has stated in no uncertain terms, that there’s nothing to discuss – that they will not permit Iran to have a nuclear weapon. They will not be a party to a revised JCPOA.

Iran is mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39 as one of the nations that come against Israel – along with Russia, China and Turkey to the north – and Libya and Ethiopia to the south. They will lose the war, but it’s prophecy being fulfilled at this very moment – even if only in the planning stages.

Church, it’s time to rise up and declare God’s sovereignty. Every Christian, every pastor and every elder and deacon needs to preach boldly from their sphere of influence and their pulpits – not some milquetoast pabulum either – but boldly decrying the sin in this nation. Don’t be afraid to offend – Jesus and the apostles did it all the time, and if they can do it, so can you.

Do it, whatever the personal cost.

Jesus died for that sin – and all of the apostles, except for John, were martyred for speaking boldly, John was imprisoned on Patmos and died after writing Revelation under divine inspiration.

Many others gave it all for their faith – for speaking boldly.

You’re worried that you might be called a name, or labelled a racist, or some other epithet? Get over it! Who do you serve, God or man? You can’t serve both.

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15)
