Bread Bread

Today y’all, we are going to talk about one of my favorite things, food. I love food, especially bread.

But first, I want to pray for Pastor Joe as he had a nasty seizure. Father, we come to You in unity and ask for the healing of a mighty warrior, Pastor Joe. I know Your chariot is up in Heaven waiting to be dispatched to those in need. And we Lord, are asking that You come. Bring Your mighty hand of healing over this man and that You God, bring peace to the household. As Your Son Jesus says, You can deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, by the power and glory of of Your name.

“Give us today the food we need.” Matthew 6:11

I want to start off by telling a little story. Way back in 2013 I was having a discussion with a man over food, he asked me, how many ingredients are in your butter? Let me look, I replied. My eyes were filled with amazement as there were things in my butter that my mouth couldn’t even speak. Wow, ewe.

So right then and there I made the decision to look at all the ingredients on the back of the package. I only wanted to put things in my body that I could pronounce.

Skip ahead a few year to 2015, that is when Libby & I decided we would only buy organic food. We made the decision to not only cut the fake out of our lives, but to replace it with healthy, wholesome, goodness.

What a change this made in my life. I was so much healthier, better, faster, stronger. Eating this way prepared my body for the battle up ahead as I was full of vitamins & nutrients.

As 2015 turned into 2017, God has us praying & fasting a lot. There is one fast in particular that I want to zoom in on. This was a two day fast from all foods. It was going to take place over a Tuesday and Wednesday.

I woke up, bright and early on Tuesday morning, sat in the stillness and began my quiet time with the Lord. As my time with Him ended, I headed off to work with a cooler full of water. The morning turned to day, day to the afternoon and the afternoon to night. I laid my head down, eager for sleep thinking I made it half way through. Dinner tomorrow was going to be amazing.

My routine was similar the next day, woke up early, went to work. But while I was there I remember thinking, I could really use a cheeseburger right about now. Food was consuming my thoughts. As the 4pm bells started chiming, I knew my hunger pains would soon be over. Dinner was being made. All I had to do was take a short drive home from Dallas.

Well let me tell you, that short drive took forever. Thirty minutes turned into an hour. An hour turned into two hours. Everyone was blocking my way from getting to the thing I needed most.

Instead of walking in the door at 5pm to a lovely meal. I had to skip dinner, attend a church leadership meeting, attend Wednesday night service the fellowship afterwords. By the time my day had ended my body was so hungry that I would have eaten anything.

I didn’t care if it was organic. I didn’t care if it was healthy. I didn’t care if it brought me any nutritional value. I didn’t care what the package said. I didn’t care about anything other than satisfying the hunger inside of me.

That is when God said, “listen to the thoughts that you are thinking. People crave. But, if you don’t fuel up on My goodness, you search anywhere for it. If you don’t fuel up on My love, you desire it from anyone, even if it’s unhealthy. My son, I care about the package you are wrapped in, let the ingredients of you reflect not the enemy, but Me.”

My prayer for y’all. Is that when the time comes, that you have so much, good, healthy bread stored up, that you can give it out. Just like the priest gave it out to King David.

“Now, what is there to eat? Give me five loaves of bread or anything else you have.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭21:3‬

“Since there was no other food available, the priest gave him the holy bread—the Bread of the Presence that was placed before the Lord in the Tabernacle. It had just been replaced that day with fresh bread.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭21:6‬
