Shall We Bring Up Your Past Sins?

To those (supposed “Christians”) who love shoving a person’s past down their throats, please allow me to give this reminder from A. W. Tozer:

“Now, on the basis of grace as taught in the Word of God, when God forgives a man, He trusts him as though he had never sinned. God did not have mental reservations about any of us when we became His children by faith. When God forgives a man, He doesn’t think, ‘I will have to watch this fellow because he has a bad record.’ No, He starts with him again as though he had just been created and as if there had been no past at all! That is the basis of our Christian assurance—and God wants us to be happy in it.”

Or from The Bible, by the apostle Paul:

“From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

So, may I suggest that you all reflect on your nasty words about our president and the Supreme Court nominee – both of whom profess to be Christians, and kindly shut up and repent of your sin. By saying what you are, about these and others – you are doing the work of the devil, and are, in essence, the mouthpiece of Satan himself.

Everyone has a past – you have one, we all have one. We all have something in our pasts that would disqualify us from something. Would you like someone to dredge up your past and put it on display for the entire world to see? I think not.

So, bow your heads – not in shame, but in prayer and repentance. And if you’re not saved, in repentance and ask Jesus for salvation – so that the you too, can have your past – as well as your present and future – forgiven, and remembered by God no more!
